Arts in the Park is a free outdoor concert series at the Lion’s Club Bandshell in Lamoureux Park during the summer months. All performances are 60-90 minutes and begin at 7pm unless otherwise stated, the doors to the backstage of the bandshell will open an hour before the set starts. As this is an outdoor series, all performances are weather permitting.  
 

Arts in the Park – Policies and Guidelines for Artists and Bands 

Thank you for your interest in performing at Arts in the Park, please carefully review the following policies and guidelines, which apply to all participating performers and are considered binding upon signing contract of performance. 

1. General Conduct and Park Regulations

• Smoking, vaping, and consumption of alcohol are strictly prohibited within the park. 

• Pets are permitted but must remain leashed at all times. 

• All artists and attendees must comply with applicable municipal, provincial, and federal laws and regulations. 

2. Weather-Related Cancellations

• In the event of an extreme heat warning, rain or thunderstorm warning, the concert will be cancelled. Notification will be provided by 4:00 PM on the day of the event. 

• If a performance is cancelled and you are not notified by 4:00 PM, you will receive payment. 

• If the performance is cancelled and notice is given before 4:00 PM, no payment will be issued. We will make reasonable efforts to reschedule at the end of the summer season; however, due to limited availability, rescheduling may be deferred to the following year. 

3. Artist Compensation

• Artists and bands will be compensated at a rate of $125.00 per member, up to a maximum total of $500.00. 

• Payment will be issued by the Arts in the Park host following the performance. 

• It is the responsibility of the artist to confirm the number of band members in advance. Failure to do so may result in adjusted payment or delay in issuance. 

4. Scheduling and Availability

• Once a performance slot has been confirmed, date changes are not permitted. 

• All available performance slots are pre-scheduled, with a small number reserved exclusively for weather-related cancellations. 

5. Sound Equipment

• A professional sound company is available for select performances. 

• Use of this service is subject to availability and incurs a $25.00 fee, which will be deducted from your total payment. 

6. Access to Venue

• The backstage area (Bandshell doors) will be accessible for sound check from 6:00 PM onward upon arrival of the supervising student. 

• Unless otherwise specified, all performances begin promptly at 7:00 PM. 

7. Performer Responsibilities

• Respect for Venue: All performers are expected to respect park facilities, including proper disposal of waste and avoiding damage to property or equipment. 

• Content: The display of offensive imagery or the performance of music containing vulgar lyrics, political messaging, or any content deemed inappropriate for a family-friendly event is strictly prohibited.  

• Damages: Performers are financially responsible for any damage to the Bandshell or City of Cornwall equipment resulting from their actions during the event.  

• Punctuality: Performers must arrive on time and be prepared to begin at their scheduled performance time. 

• Sound Levels: Artists must adhere to sound level regulations as directed by the venue staff or local authorities to ensure compliance with municipal noise ordinances. 

8. Photos and Promotional Material

• All concerts held in Lamoureux Park are public events, where photography and videography may be conducted and shared by attendees.  

• Arts in the Park and other departments of the City of Cornwall reserve the right to capture and utilize photos and videos for promotional purposes.  

• Arts in the Park retains the right to use performer names, logos, photos, and videos in promotional materials, event calendars, and marketing campaigns.  

• Performers who wish to create their own promotional materials for their scheduled concert date must submit them to AITP@cornwall.ca for review and approval.
